The goal of this project was to explore the concept of human-computer interaction within the context of an immersive sound environment. I wanted this project to be something that anyone could walk up to at any point and seamlessly begin to explore the interactions.

I coded this project in Max/MSP/Jitter, a visual programming language for music and multimedia. In order to facilitate an exploration of various forms of interaction, I created three different options for users to interact with the piece. These interactions involved clapping, waving, or vocalizing. Lastly, to ensure that these interactions were immersive, I designed this project using an 8-channel ring speaker configuration, with the user situated in the center of this ring. This allowed for specific placement and movement of sound within the space so that the users could clearly localize the sounds they were controlling.
